We are so happy to welcome four of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters to our convent. Sr. Mary Catherine, Sr. Mary Magdalene, Sr. Mary Agnes and Sr. Mary Faustina have graciously agreed to help with our PSR Program. We are so blessed to have them in our midst!
In 1848, Fr. Joachim Masmitjá founded the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the purpose of rebuilding society through the education of young women. In 1976, Mother Joanne requests permission of David M. Maloney, Bishop of Wichita, to establish a house in his diocese.
The first apostolate of every Sister of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is to contemplate the Word and to pray and work for the conversion of sinners and the sanctification of priests. The Eucharist which is the source and summit of the life of all the Church's activity is the very life of each IHM Sister, thus she has the special privilege of dwelling in the House of the Lord. Each convent is the dwelling place of the King. Daily Mass, frequent visits to the Blessed Sacrament and a daily Eucharistic Holy Hour form the framework of each Sisters' day. Each Sister spends at least one hour of adoration daily in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament. In addition to the Liturgy of the Hours and the daily communal participation in the Mass she also makes an additional hour of adoration on Friday evenings when the Sisters offer their nocturnal adoration for the conversion of sinners and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. |
